I am on the Highway to Hell

Hi. My name is Imran Rabbani. Music, is one of those fields that has always fasinated me. When I was in 10th grade I was shuffling through my friends IPod and I came across this song, “Highway To hell” by some band called ACDC. That song led me to this whole new musical genre of Heavy guitar riffs, blast beats and swift Bass line with synchronizing melodies I could relate too. Cliff Burton from Metallica and Roger Waters from Pink Floyd are my favorite guitarist and have always inspired me. By the end of my O levels I had learned all the basic scales and chords to play an acoustic guitar but what I was more interested was to find a band that had the same musical ideology as me. Eventually, after 365 days of hardships, unorganized jam sessions and a whole lot of practice I found myself in front of huge audiences on some of biggest platforms with my bass guitar and a provided Microphone I could sing into. Finally I found 4 other immensely talented artists who helped me through this journey as a band called Preaching hypocrites (Yes we know realize the name is quite lame but we were teenagers back then).  Back then many underground bands had shaped into life and we were one of them. Having the opportunity to play as an opening band for some of the great names we looked up too has been a great experience.  However one thing I learned after playing at all such events is the jam session and individual practice one needs to be a good musician not counting myself as one (and that no matter how faster or louder you may perform, If you’re not that guy with his acoustic guitar playing “Bachana” by Bilal khan you are not grabbing anyone’s attention).

Currently, I am in Lahore School of Economics in my 2nd year and even though all my band members have chosen different universities, I have still been actively participating with different bands in live sessions and recordings. Underground music scene in Pakistan has flourished over the years as many unique artists/bands have made it too the mainstream. It’s been ages since the last time I have been on stage with my bass guitar but there has been no better feeling then being on the stage in front of all those people.

What we play is life- Louis Armstrong

It is ironic that how different beats, sounds, vocals, guitar riffs blend and synchronize together to form something that transcends beyond borders called music. Music is so diverse in its attributes that apart from that it gets some heads rolling it also emotionally captivates the attention of the audience through different genres that make listeners to relate themselves to the specific type of music.
For me, when I think of music the genres that come to my mind are Heavy metal, Rock, Sufi and Pop that I mostly listen to. I chose marketing media as my degree for bachelors partially because I thought that it would help me market and make videos of my musical talents as well. Iam the drummer of my band Preaching Hypocrites which is basically a thrash metal band that covers musical maestros like Metallica, Slayer, System of a down, Noori etc.  The idea of Preaching Hypocrites came to us back in our days of O-levels from Beaconhouse when my band members shared the same music taste and we were in the same class. We used to attend most of the underground gigs that occurred in Lahore that one fine day the idea of us joining forces and forming a band was floated that eventually was formulated in October 2009 when we performed for the first time in the youth festival. We continue playing around the city of Lahore.
I chose drumming as my portfolio in my band because I have always found drumming very energetic and a very vigorous activity. Lars Ulrich, the drummer of Metallica has always been my idol. I took classes from a nearby institute for 2 months and entered the music market that so far has turned out to be a very fascinating and a worthwhile experience.
Along with the passion for drumming, Iam a sportsperson as well and in specific Iam an ardent follower of cricket. Back in my adolescent age I wanted to be a cricketer when I grow up and cricket was something that came as an innate quality to me, but later sanity prevailed and here I am studying in Lahore School of Economics making a herculean effort to pursue a secure future through my studies and later work for a multinational.
Along with this I have also worked as an intern in Shaukat Khanum which was basically to interact with the cancer patients. This experience made me realize that how blessed i am as an individual and to go along with this I have also worked as a volunteer in the youth performing arts festival organized by the rafi peer theater workshop. In short the journey this far has been very overwhelming and a crusade.

"You are the music while the music lasts"

 M
usic. What a curious thing! Isn't it incredible when all those clinks, clanks, hoots and toots come together into one heart-warming sound? Music takes you away; music lifts you off the ground. But with such a wide variety of choices (you could make the next note higher, accent over here), music becomes a whole new world.  And although the realm of music is never-ending, one of the most important things about music in my opinion is what it means to me. Being an LSE student im highly gratefulk to all my friends and teachers who have helped me promoting me and having the faith in me .
Well, considering I started music lessons when I was 5 years old, and slowly but surely singing have become things I do regularly, music has become a big part of my life, and in many ways, it has changed who I am as a person. .  I began to realize not only how vital practicing was to success, but that it was a lot easier said than done, you had to do some work. Sooner i  started to realize that i had the passion to sing in front of the whole world therefore, I returned, promising my teacher that I would be focused, dedicated, and that I would work hard and rehearse. My singing lessons have turned out to be amazing experiences,
Music has even given me a new view on life. In a way, the philosophy that it has given me is present many times in life. I've learned how nothing, including talent, can be a substitute for hard work and practice. I've learned to enjoy life and moments more from enjoying music, and music even helps me get through tough or blissful times. Even listening (and loudly singing)

Music has helped me improve myself, my vocals, my confidence level to talk or sing in front of a wider audience internationally and music has become of part of me, a part of who I am. Music means a lot to me, and I’m very grateful for that. Music is amongst the very few things who have made me  known as Misha Razzaq THE SINGER !!!

That’s The Way The Cookie Crumbles!!

For the common man food is a mere necessity, a survival tool. However, for me it’s a passion. From the collection of cooking material up till serving the dish is a blissful journey. When I am praised for my meticulous efforts in cooking and baking I ascend to cloud nine. Seeing the faces of people beaming with the happiness because of my food makes me jubilant and peculiarly peaceful.

My first encounter with cooking was when I was twelve. I baked a cake from a ready-made cake mixture. There was a strange glint in my eyes and glow on my face while I was baking. Much to my disappointment I pulled out the cake too early. By too early I mean half of the cake was dripping out in the cake dish. My mother was proud and amused at the same time at my feeble and amateur attempt at cooking. Over the years I mastered baking ready-made cakes and eventually cakes made from scratch.

What started as a mere attempt to fill up my boring day, has lead me to start my own catering business. Over the time I have tried to attain perfection in my cooking skills, by experimenting and completing various cooking courses. Now I stand as a proud owner of my own home based catering services. And let me assure you friends its feels good, to say ‘Hey I OWN this’.

At the moment the business is taking its baby steps, but soon it will soar as high as the clouds in the sky. So I request you to help me in promoting my fanaticism. Come and experience the tantalizing, scrumptious treats I offer at extremely reasonable fares.

My name is Jehanzeb Noor Uddin and I'm not a terrorist. studying in Lahore school of Economics, I chose marketing as my major because my CGPA didn't allow me to chose any other degree. My aim was to get in Accounting and Finance but, unfortunately I took more interest in snooker than in studies. I have passion for cars and
I love gardening. I water my lawns on sundays, and bake cookies after that. My favourite colour is purple. I hate materialistic people. I worked at a stock brokerage house as an intern for 3 months. Got to know a lot about share market and the system on which it runs. I have also worked at Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital, in the finance department. These internships have given me a lot of experience which can help me in my future.
I think we can bring a change in Pakistan if every individual unites and starts improving his/her own self first. For example, if we even start with the most basic stuff, by picking up litter from the streets, we can clean a massive amount of waste from the country. where ever you see garbage, pick it up and throw it in the nearest waste bin. I think if we start working on this clean up Pakistan project, the neat and tidy streets will change the perception of foreign tourists about the dirty Pakistan. this will increase the country's goodwill.

Pakistan, according to me is based on a wrong ideology, a military state- made by feudalists to be ruled by feudalists- Still under British control with the wrong heros. (I’m not being cool)
Stiffler from American Pie has always fascinated me. I want to be like him, once I grow up.
